The ultimate purpose of every human being is the realization of the universal and eternal truth. In ancient times, Brahman community, by and large, worked to achieve the above goals, for the benefit of not only themselves but also for the entire society. As the knowledge imparters, materialistic possessions not being their goal, their basic needs of livelihood were taken care and they were respected by rest of the society--mainly the King, by way of granting them land parcels and tenements called Agraharas. The Brahmins were ordained to recite Vedas and Shasthras and teach them to those eligible to learn as the society’s caste structure permitted. Over time, with the decimation of kingdoms, with the invasion of Muslim and Christian groups from across Central Asia and Europe respectively, the traditional system of handing over the knowledge to successive generations went awry, throwing the Brahman community into penury.

Founder & Managing Trustee, DFI
The educational curriculum had also changed to learning the ideology and language of the invaders, ignoring our own treasure of knowledge. The situation has not changed even after attaining Independence, but worsened with the uncultured, selfish and corrupt politicians of all hues getting into power, catapulted by caste preferences. These developments had driven the minority Brahman community to look for different vocations and professions to feed their families. Here too, they were looked down upon, with the reservation system for various other communities taking half the space of the job market, irrespective of merit and qualification. Governments too were unconcerned to their needs.
It was against this background that the right thinking personalities in the community felt it their duty to come forward to lend support to the needy in the Brahman community, by creating various platforms for such service, without bias against any sub-caste or region, thereby contributing for the upliftment and empowerment of the society in general. Dhanwantari Foundation International takes pride being a tool in this resolute endeavour, by chipping in for various service projects in the areas of education, health, protection of our traditional studies and values, taking care of the senior citizens, marriages of the poor, cow protection, job creation, entrepreneurial development, leadership development and financial empowerment etc.
